Getting Dressed with Technology James Simadas - Thursday, April 11, 2013

Getting Dressed with Technology

Ever wondered if all the clever things you see on TV and at the movies about our future might actually came true?

Space travel back at the beginning of the 20th Century was something in a Comic book, photographs and films had only been around for a very short time, and the car was just starting to make its presence felt in very small numbers.

Fast forward 100 years, and the mobile phone is a reality, integrating into our lives and becoming an important part of our social activity.

Well, the next step takes us even further further into the future, and quite quickly. The iPhone has only been around for just over 5 years now, and the next 5 years as opposed to the last 100 will see technology advance 10 fold.

Google have recently announced their new Google Glasses, that stream the internet straight to your glasses, take photos and videos, and even offer a heads up map and navigation. This is not the future, this is now, and Google plan to start selling Google Glasses this year.

Add to this the Smart Watched that are appearing now, which I blogged about on 7th March, and wearable technology will soon be the norm.

Lets just hope it does not go too far though!

Swat that Fly James Simadas - Thursday, July 05, 2012

Swat that Fly !

Lots of talk about newspapers being replaced by the online digital revolution, but there are some things you just can't replace.

Some of you may have seen funny advertisement before, but I figured it is worth sharing again.

Anyway, this may be a little funny, but what is really happening is suppliers and retailers are adjusting their businesses to suit a new era of consumer. News in particular, is delivered in so many different formats that consumers have more and more choice to get the news they want... be it watching TV, listening to the radio, reading a newspaper or having one of those clever little "APPS" feed news to your Fly Swatter like the one seen here.

We have had a lot of calls from newsagents since the announcements made by Fairfax and News Limited recently, wanting to adapt and evolve.

Good on you I say.

Safer Internet Day- 8th February James Simadas - Sunday, February 06, 2011

This Tuesday 8th February is Safer Internet Day

Technology is very much a part of our lives now, even more so for our children where technology is just another part of their everyday lives.

As parents, we can't ignore things like the internet. We should embrace it and at the sametime encourage a responsible attitude for our children to follow. This is about encouraging our children to respect the online community.
Google and YouTube play a major part each year for a "Safer Internet". They recommend parents spend a little time this Tuesday with the children and ask them to take you on a tour of their favourite web sites. Ask you children to show you how they handle privacy settings, or personal information and the things they find offensive or unsuitable.

Social sites play a huge part in our childrens lives today. Encouarge your children to be Internet smart.
Visit
Cyber Smart to learn more, and check out Google preferences and YouTube safety where you and you kids can set safetly protocols easily and quickly.

Its about respect.
