TiVo does have a place, once you understand it. James Simadas - Monday, January 31, 2011

What is TiVo? We hear the term, and probably know it is a Television recorder of some sort, a bit like a Video recorder, but different and better!
Most people that read this blog or know me already understand that I just love technology. I can't get enough of it. However, I like technolgy to be useful and have a place to improve my lifestyle and allow me time to do the things I like.
I do like to watch programs on TV, such as Burn Notice, NCIS and I enjoyed the new Hawaii Five O last night. Problem is, like most people that run a business, especially all you hard working newsagents and convenience store owners, watching TV shows can be both inconvenient and difficult. The time they screen, be it late at night when you need your beauty sleep before a 4am start the next day, or some of those great movies that are screened during the day while you are at work. These are some of the obstacles to enjoying a little R & R.
So, what I wanted to share with you was my experience with the TiVo device I just connected to the Television.
You need an internet connection for TiVo, but this is what really makes the TiVo special. Once connected and set up you have twin High Definition Digital Tuners and a hard drive Personal Video Recorder (PVR).
I love the search facility. You know the show name, like "Bonanza" and all you have to do is search by name to find the show listed in the electronic program guide. Select record, and hey presto, you can series link "Bonanza" and come home to watch the show at your convenience, even skipping through the adverts.
There are lots of other fantastic features, but I don't want to bore you. We don't sell the TiVo, so you will need to pick one up at an electrical retailer near you if you are interested.

But, my point is, TiVo does really make Television easy to record, watch and enjoy. if you are that way inclined.
